The Trip To Killarney
Well what a day, we headed off to show Kh some of the area and to get dad and mum out into the fresh air. Killarney is 36kms east of Warwick (the number three in orange on the map above), it is a small township at the top of one of the many beautiful valleys around here.
The main place I showed KH was the
Queen Mary falls, a very serene area, in a national park. We left mum and dad at the lovely park, and walked the 1.5kms to the falls, the natural beauty was enveloping. We saw a lovely grey wallaby watching us intently and the bird life was magical to listen to. The falls were flowing far under capacity but majestic all the same. The cliff face opposite us was like a huge pipe organ. After hauling each other back up the mountain, it was off to lunch at Spring Creek only a further 10kms up on the plateau. The view is breathtaking and the food scrumptious. After our meal we headed down to the condamine gorge road.
This was just to show Kh the beginning of the river, but we ended up going home this way. It consisted of 14 river crossings and a rather hairy old road... as this was my first time 4x4, I found myself driving extremely cautiously. It was exillerating to say the least, thank goodness we are in drought, as I would be an absolute wreck doing this if the river was flowing even at a quarter of its capacity. But we got home safe and sound and Kh being the true gentleman that he is congratulated me on a job well done. Tomorrow will be a nice quiet day catching up on the gardening. Have a truly magical weekend with the ones you love. Hugs, Gail xox
