Monday another Monday

It was a good weekend, I drove to Brisbane on Friday and picked up Mum and Dad from their unit. Dad appears to have come thru the first week of treatment with a great attitude. I have been trying to fit the garden into my daily routine as well, but run out of time. Dad and I have finished the lining of one of the other walls in the barn, we only have the two ends to do, then the lining of the roof. Then we can start the plastering and then the painting... it sounds so easy (if only). This morning I drove Mum and Dad back to Brisbane for another week of radium. Nics and the grandkids arrive on wednesday to finish off the wedding cake and spend some time with me of course. I am going to supervise Nics to make sure she does'nt lick her fingers too much with all that chocolate ganache. Now my friends I am going to retire for a while, as I really want to watch the soccer in the wee hours of the morning. Once again thankyou for the support for my family thru these times of trial.
.
.
.
I would like to share a verse with those of you who have lost a loved one over recent times. .
In a harbour two ships sailed.
One setting forth on a voyage.
The other home to port.
Everyone cheered the ship going out.
But the ship sailing in was barely noticed.
To this the wise man replied.
Do not rejoice over a ship setting out to sea.
For you cannot know
what terrible storm it may have to endure.
Rather rejoice over the ship
that has safely reached port.
And brings its passengers home in peace.
And this is the way of the world.
When a child is born all rejoice.
When someone dies all weep.
We should do the opposite.
For no-one can tell.
What trials and tribulations.
Await the newborn child.
For when a mortal dies
in peace we should rejoice.
For they have completed a long journey.
And there is no greater joy,
than to leave this world.
With the imperishable crown of a good name.

Its Not A Nice Day

Well, Tuesday snuck up on me. I am not sure what happened to Monday, but I did not want to get up today. The clouds were grey and looked promising for rain, or snow (just joking about the snow). The temp tried real hard and succeeded to reach the double figures, but the chill factor was present. I did the floors and the bathrooms, then decided to read a book beside the fire, which is burning around the clock at the moment. After snuggling into my favourite chair with a lovely hot tea, you guessed it the doorbell rang. Visitors, a friend from town and her partner, popped in with my two bags of mulch they had kindly picked up for me. On with the kettle and after a nice long chat and a cuppa or two they were off. By this time I had three little pooches lookin for tea, so the book was placed away for another day. My next door neighbour whose partner is in hospital in Brissy, is in for dinner tonite, so have to get organised.
I have taken some pics of the two outfits we bought for the mother of the bride, and if blogger allows will post now, why dont you help her choose. Also a shot of our heater and my chair, and some pics of some of the oil paintings, mainly Australian scenes we have decorating our walls. Have a good week.

This is the wedding cake that Di & myself picked out. Nic's is going to do it in dark chocolate mud cake with gold crowns and white crystals (she think's). I will post photo's of it's construction.

Sunday So Busy

Hello my dear friends,
Today was the day to take Dad and Mum to Brisbane for the 6 week stint of radium therapy. We got away early so we could pay a visit to our neighbour who is recovering from a partial lung resection, his wife Di was with us.
After settling mum and dad into their unit which will be home for 6weeks, Di and I went shopping, to buy her mother of the bride outfit (the wedding is in 2 weeks).
Well we went from shop to shop and Di was becoming quite stressed , the last shop had two outfits which looked super on her and as she couldn't decide we took both.
We arrived back home at 6.30pm to three very anscious little dogs who had been left all day, but I know how to get back in their good books, out comes the fresh roasted chicken I just happened to pick up at the servo. All was soon forgiven and it was time for a quiet cuppa.
I will try to get pics of the outfits tomorrow as it is bedtime in this home goodnite to you all. Hugs, Gail xox.

Dad with Isabella (about 10 months) and Mum with her Papillion, Billy (William Tell). I think the photo was taken in either 2000 or very early 2001.

Wednesday A Quiet Day

This mountain range is the one I have to cross whenever I go to Brisbane. It never ceases to amaze me with its beauty. If you put the window down you are greeted with a chorus of bell birds singing. I saw a magnificent wedge tailed eagle yesterday soaring high above the cliffs. These mountains bring me peace, I dont know why, I just accept it.

Cunningham's Gap is a pass over the Great Dividing Range between the Darling Downs and Brisbane areas. It passes through the Main Range National Park, and on a clear day can be seen from Brisbane. In 1827 Allan Cunningham set out from the upper Hunter River to explore inside the Dividing Range, discovering the Darling Downs; returning in 1828 from Brisbane to discover Cunninghams Gap. Cunningham travelled on the right hand side of the Gap whereas the highway today runs on the lefthand side from Aratula. My information came from HERE.

The woolshed

Hi you all hope your w/end is going well.
Saturday saw me driving with mum and dad to an exhibition (arty & crafty) at a woolshed located on an awesome property called Pikedale,as my camera decided to die I am afraid You will just have to believe me when I say this property is magnificent.
Although the weather was bleak to say the least, we packed up the dogs made a thermos and headed down to Stanthorpe and then turned west on the road to Texas(Australia) about 33 klms down the road we turned off into a private property (Sheep station) after driving past the magnificent old homestead, which was in immaculate shape we headed thru the property about a further 800metres to the woolshed. They had catering tents and a band playing,it was when you got inside the shed where the exhibition was you felt the aura of the shed and the smells of times gone by.They had some great works of art, paintings, wood sculpture, jewellery, tin sculptures and beautiful woollen products. I am afraid I could only afford the card sets which I have copied and some raffle tickets( guess I have not won no-one has rung) well we enjoyed ourselves and thats what life is about. We took the long way home, thru some very lovely landscapes and over the dry creeks, we only saw one kangaroo and I stopped and helped a tortoise get off the road,oh yes we did see two beautiful wedge tailed eagles soaring high above us and about twenty pelicans enjoying the thermals. We were tired and ready to relax for the nite all cosy with the fire burning.
Today Sunday was get up late, cook a roast dinner and stay warm as those nasty westerly winds are blowing and go right thru you.I have added a couple of pics of the clouds today ,I swear they are full of ice.
I hope you have a great week coming and as I have appointments in Bris I may not get to you all , but please know you are all in my prayers
blogger will not give me my photos back so be patient

Something For Everyone

"THOSE WHO TOUCH OUR LIVES"

Every special person who touches our life
Leaves their own unique mark on our heart.
A mark which can never be chissled away,
Even if the years eventually pull us apart.
We can take on their expressions as such,
The more we share of ourselves together.
It's those little things about another person
Which can remain a part in us forever.
People who we have met throughout our life
Become a part of the person we are today.
We learn and we grow from the relationships;
Each one touching us, in its own special way,
We laugh about spending too much time together,
When we think we have become like each other.
But it just shows how much we've been touched
By the relationship we have found with another.
Those special people who can touch our lives
Are like precious jewels amongst life's treasures;
They shine on us and leave a lasting impression;
An unique mark on our heart;
A gift without measure.

Well my week has been different, I dropped KH off at his mums on the Gold Coast and then spent what was left of the w/end with my daughter and family. Monday was the usual mundane house hold chores, Tuesday was wood delivery day and do some work in the old barn.Wednesday was cook a nice lunch and try to get my thoughts together,(It must be in the air) and have a cuppa with my neighbour.Thursday was ironing and electrician here to sort out phone points. During all this I am trying to make sense of the direction my life is heading and where i really want to be at this age and time, will let you all know when i know (if I find the answers)
Dad is going well and is putting on a brave front, I love this man who has been a real influence in my life and my families lives.
KH was such a dear man to help me thru the past weeks, he will never really know how much he helped me. A true friend.
Tomorrow is Friday and I am going to Brisbane with my neighbours friend to see my neighbour Bob, who is recovering from lung surgery, he is doing it tough so hopefully we can brighten his day.
Then comes Saturday and Sunday, we will just have to wait and see.
"Hugs to you all"

Birthdays

I was giving some thought to my next post, when I suddenly decided I would like to start a birthday book. I am not sure how to go about this, so I need your help(please) My idea is to some how have a register have all my closest Blogging friends to enable me to remember their special day with a card.

Today was an interesting day, first off dad took off for his morning walk and I went down to pick him up ,then it was off to the hardware store to buy some hessian and trellis to put some protection around the plants that are suffering from the frosts. Then it was off to the landscape providers to get some more sandstone rocks for a garden edge.
by now everyone was looking for their lunch, mixed grill was on for today.
After cleaning up it was time to do a rice pudding my family who were comiing to stay the W /end.
I just had time to sneakout and rake up the leaves before taking mum down to the raffles at the local club.
My family arrived safely and this home was filled with the beautiful noises of young and old all trying to be heard. The rice pudding seemed to go down well.
I am sitting here doing this post quite late, enjoying a cup of green tea, before I go to bed.
Tomorrow I take KH back to the airport as he has to go home,I believe I shall miss his company, as it will be a long trip and I am the driver I will saynite to you all,
May you all have a truly beautiful W/end, Hugs
